Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is a condition characterized by persistent, irrational, intrusive and irresistible thoughts which may be associated with a compulsive behavior. The patient is aware of the lack of logic but is unable to control and this hampers his day to day living. The condition is even more distressing if the thoughts are religious or sexual in nature. The other common thoughts are about cleanliness, characterized by repeated washing, taking long hours for bathing, checking the locks and bolts of the doors, counting money etc. The patient may have co morbid anxiety and secondary depression or at times this may also be associated with psychosis or could be organic in nature. The molecular cause behind this has been identified and the treatment is very simple using the combination of medicine and cognitive therapy. Plexus offers treatment for OCD.
